Harry Redknapp’s More Than Happy With His ‘Terrific’ Squad
By: b-man | September 28th, 2007Sol Campbell. David James. Utaka. Lauren. Papa Diop. Sulley Muntari. These players would get in any squad in the Premierleague bar none. Maybe not all of them the starting eleven but certainly the squad. Add this to the fact that there’s also an abundance of talent in the rest of the squad and things are looking very rosey. Well Harry Redknapp seems to agree. “You look at us now and we’re a strong looking team” he stated. “You look at the back four and I honestly wouldn’t swap them for any other in the country, and I genuinely mean that.
“It’s a very strong-looking back four, while the goalkeeper (Big Dave James) is the best in the business. We’re also now strong in midfield. Papa Diop and Muntari give us power there, so we look a good team.
“We’ve a terrific squad.”

I don’t know what you’re smoking, but if you continue to do so, you’ll be dead soon enough.
Campbell is washed up, James is too shady for the knowledgeable, Lauren wasn’t a regular for the seven seasons he was at Arsenal, Papa Diop’s best years are behind him, and you don’t even mention Distin, who is better than both the aforementioned defenders. Utaka and Muntari might be able to make a big four squad, but would play sporadically at best.
If you knew anything about Redknapp and David James, you wouldn’t be a Portsmouth fan.

Dietmar, please don’t patronise and enfuriate me with your mindless, idiotic and un-true comments. Lauren became a regular starter for Arsenal in his first season, what with then first-choice right back Lee Dixon having continual injuries to his knee. He carried on as first choice the following season, helping the Gunners to an FA Cup (yes, he DID play in the final). The season after this he was an integral part in Arsenal going unbeaton all season, and I gaurentee if you ask any Gooner who one of their most consistent performers were that year, Lauren would be near the top. The next season saw Lauren play more League games than Patrick Vieira, oh and let’s not forget that Lauren stroked home a pen against Man U in the FA Cup final. 2005-2006 season wasn’t as succesful for Lauren. He started the season as first choice, however a long term injury saw young Ivorian full back Emmanuel Eboue break into the team, and he impressed immensely, thus keeping his place in the team. Oh and Lauren was at Arsenal for 6 seasons.
The fact that you go out of your way to highlight yet another player (Distin) who could make it into many other teams, merely illustrates my point more clearly.
Please next time think before you criticise my points. I can accept criticism but only if it’s correct.
