Portsmouth 1-1 Chelsea
By: b-man | February 2nd, 2008A debut goal from Jermain Defoe cancelled out Anelka’s second half goal.
In truth the game could have gone either way with both teams creating chances.
However David James did have to pull off some fantastic saves in the final few minutes to ensure we earned a point.
Defoe couldn’t have introduced himself any better to the Pompey fans. He looked good all afternoon and the goal was the cherry on the cake.
I can’t say the same for Baros however. I want to see a BIG improvement from him. He has the ability he just never seems to produce the goods. His finishing, imparticular, was poor today. It’s early days yet though.
Overall a well earned point that is pretty satisfying when you consider Chelsea’s form and our home form.

Fair play to Pompey. It was a quality match, particularly in the second half. I think you’re a little harsh on Baros. Though I’ve never liked him as a player, his work rate today was phenomenal.

Yea I agree. He worked his socks off today and he did have a hand in our goal but most of the time he had little effect on the game.
If we wanted a striker to run himself into the ground then we should have just kept Benji.
You’re right ‘cfc069′ Dave James did do us proud AGAIN. I’m so pleased for him that he’s back in the England #1 spot (for now)
