Sol-Man Confident of European Football At Pompey
By: b-man | October 2nd, 2007Sol campbell is sure he’ll accomplish his ambition of returning to European football thanks to Harry Redknapp and his new look squad. Big Sol was a regular in the Champions League with Arsenal, even scoring a header in the final in 2006. Since Sol’s arrival at Fratton Park, Pompey have stormed up the table, missing out on Uefa Cup football by just 2 points last season. However with new signings including John Utaka, Sulley Muntari, Sylvain Distin and Papa Diop, The Sol-Man is allowing himself to get exited again.
Sol commented: “we underachieved last season. We had a fantastic opportunity to qualify for Europe and we didn’t take it. We should have easily have qualified and I was dissapointed we failed.
“Hopefully we can meke the step up this season. We’ve made some great signings who I feel can get us to where we want to be.”
