Defoe is ‘Only On Loan’…. For Now
By: b-man | February 3rd, 2008
It has been revealed/admitted by Pompey executives today that Jermain Defoe’s transfer from Tottenham to Pompey is only a loan deal. OH CRAP!
However Pompey fan’s don’t be worried. It turns out this happens quite a lot. When the clubs realise they aren’t going to finalise everything before the window shuts, they just call it a loan deal and then work out the rest of the details the next week.
A club spokesman cleared the matter:
“The Defoe transfer was done as an initial loan because of time restraint.
“The full documents will be signed and registered this week and this is a standard method when you have little time.”
Thank God!
For a moment I was very worried. If it was only a loan deal it would have meant that come the summer, our only real striker would have been the ageing Kanu.

Well, maybe he can start matches now instead of coming on as a sub every ten matches. Thanks for the assload of cash, too.
