Earlier on in the season I was sure of Uefa Cup. I’m less certain now.
Our home form simply isn’t good enough. [...]

By: b-man | Comments 2 Comments

A second successive home goal from Jermain Defoe ensured Pompey continued their march for Europe.
Niko Kranjcar was fouled in the 69th minute by a clumsey Phillip Bardsley challenge, and referee Phil Dowed awarded a penalty.
Jermain Defoe stepped up with confidence and slotted the ball to the left of the goal.

Portsmouth 1-1 Chelsea

By: b-man | Comments 3 Comments

A debut goal from Jermain Defoe cancelled out Anelka’s second half goal.
In truth the game could have gone either way with both teams creating chances.
However David James did have to pull off some fantastic saves in the final few minutes to ensure we earned a point.
Defoe couldn’t have introduced himself any better to the Pompey [...]

Pompey favourite Benjani could still be on his way to Man City.
Despite the paperwork not being completed on time last night, there is a rule which sometimes allows the transfer to go ahead even if it was completed after the deadline.
Pompeys top scorer is believed to want to move to City, and the clubs [...]

Deadline Day Defoe Deal!!!

By: b-man | Comments No Comments

In a fantastic deal for Pompey, Jermain Defoe reunited himself with former mentor Harry Redknapp.
The striker simply hadn’t been getting the games at Spurs, however now he’s got a chance to cement a first team place I have great confidence in his goalscoring abilities.
A fantastic bit of business considering the calibre of player Defoe [...]
